iCLIPART - Searchable collection of several million images. Mostly clip art, along with photos, fonts and sounds. The web graphics section is poorly tagged and basically useless, but the clip art section is well-tagged and most searches will turn up several pages of good quality, relevant images. School Icons Club - Hundreds of clean, light-hearted, colorful web icons, great for sites aimed at children or for anywhere you want a fresh, casual look. No charge for use; link back is required.
A Favicon is a little custom icon that appears next to a website's URL in the address bar of a web browser. Here are some resources to help create and use them.
Creating favicons with Adobe Photoshop and GoLive - Uses MacOSX screenshots to walk through the process of creating a favicon.ico file using Adobe Photoshop and the Telegraphics plugin, then using Adobe GoLive to install the icon into your web site.
DaGraeve.com: Favicon.ico Maker - A free online service: upload a 16x16 pixel PNG file and this page will instantly convert it to a favicon.ico file. Site also has many other graphics utilities, including a nifty Color Palette Generator.

Telegraphics - Free Plugins and Other Software - A boatload of useful plugins for Adobe Photoshop, Elements and Illustrator, including a .ICO export filter. They also offer standalone software for image creation and manipulation. Some are free, some "donationware." Elsewhere on the site you will find a fascinating art gallery and several free or inexpensive font downloads.

Font Managers - List of font manager resources.
MyFonts - Easy to search, good database, reasonable prices. Can view sample text in various fonts, or use "WhatTheFont" to determine a font name from an image.
Telegraphics Type - A small collection of fonts with hand-drawn look. Two are free downloads (PS Type1 or TrueType); the others modestly priced.

TechSoup - Recycled Hardware - A comprehensive body of information to promote computer recycling and reuse. TechSoup provides resources for those who would like to donate hardware, those who would like to acquire recycled hardware, and refurbishers.
Mac OS X hosts File Regrouped - Instructions for "under the hood" optimizations of NetInfo. Not for the technically timid -- don't say I didn't warn you!
Mac OS X Software & Tips - Marc Liyanage provides easy-install packages for Open Source software such as PHP, MySQL, vim and ImageMagick, along with some useful utilities of his own. Don't miss his tips on MacOS X customization -- I learned several great time-savers in my first pass. Donations accepted (for his expenses and Amnesty International).

DeviantART: Photoshop Brushes - Shared brushes, tons of them, from elvish script to guns.
Photoshop Support.com - Free Photoshop tutorials, plus a substantial directory of free and commercial plug-ins, brushes and other tools.
PS Brush - Giant directory of Photoshop brushes that you can download for free. Well organized.
Gallery - The most popular open source gallery script, highly customizable. Designed to use the NetPBM binaries.
imagick - PHP extension that incorporates all of the image processing functionality of ImageMagick. Not yet sure whether it will be useful for me.
Netpbm - Open source graphics software package used by Gallery, among others.
PHP Image functions - php.net - Online documentation for the GD graphics libraries, with commentary and code samples from programmers.
CleverNet PHP BBEdit clipping set - Quick function entry for BBEdit users. Contains entries for nearly 6000 PHP functions, constants, control structures, and code snippets. Created from the official PHP documentation. The site also contains instructions for creating your own BBEdit clipping sets, plus information on web development methodologies.
Gijs van Tulder Articles - Topics include hierarchical database design, handling images in PHP using GD and ImageMagick. Well-written and directly applicable to solving real-world problems.
PHP Builder - Forums, tutorials, articles. Some contributors are less techno-savvy than others so don't take it all as gospel, but there are many helpful entry-level overviews of various PHP topics.
PHP Freaks.com - Tutorials, forums, and other support for those who are learning or developing PHP and MySQL.
PHP.net - Goes without saying -- this is THE PHP reference. Full manual online, annotated with notes from programmers around the world.

Better Business Bureau - Guidelines for privacy policies, from the BBB.
HowStuffWorks.com Privacy Statement - Another readable policy using a different organizational option.
PrivacyPolice.org - Self-described as a "non-profit organization dedicated to promoting privacy protections and honest practices over the Internet and in eCommerce transactions."
Secure Form Mail
If you have web forms that generate emails, make sure they don't allow spammers to use your server as a relay.
Captcha Project - Provides a tool for generating those graphics with the wobbly letters and numbers so you can prevent spambots from automatically filling in your forms. You can find more on the history and theory behind captcha programs at Wikipedia.
NMS Formmail - NMS provides a secure drop-in replacement for Matt Wright's FormMail script. The site also offers several other handy CGI scripts.
PHP.net Manual: Mail Functions - Basics of PHP email code, plus some good comments on protecting from email injection and other forms of spam.
Secure PHP: Email Injection - Article and example code for preventing spammers and spoofers from using mail forms.

Getty Images - One of the oldest and largest stock agencies, with contemporary and archival photographs and illustrations from news, sports, entertainment, and film.
iStockPhoto - Members buy high resolution royalty-free stock photographs for just $1.50 or less each. Post your own photographs for sale and earn credit toward purchases. Collection includes over 133,000 searchable images.
Jupiter Images - High resolution, professional quality rights-managed and royalty-free images, available for download or on CD. Jupiter recently swallowed up several smaller image vendors, including Botanica, FoodPix and Brand X Pictures.
Open Photo Project - Photographs by Michael Jastremski, licensed under a Creative Commons license. All photos may be used by individual, non-profit, educational, government and commercial entities at no cost, but the project must be credited. Categories include animals, architecture, flowers, landscapes, and "girls with guns."
PhotoLibrary.com - Digital stock library offers huge, searchable collection of unique Rights Protected (RP) and Royalty Free (RF) image. Includes material from the Oxford Scientific image and footage library. Images can be purchased individually, or choose from over 100 CDs.
Stock.XCHNG - Over 85,000 searchable images, royalty free for personal use. Some require photographer's permission for commercial use.
A List Apart - Digital magazine explores the design, development, and meaning of web content, with a special focus on techniques and benefits of designing with web standards. A wealth of articles, great depth on XHTML and CSS.
Eric Meyer: CSS - Examples, references, articles and links by the leading expert on CSS page design. I was completely hooked by the ideas Meyer shares in the css/edge section.
Jeffrey Zeldman Presents: The Daily Report - CSS evangelist and author Zeldman posts web design news links and tidbits of information. You'll also find in-depth information on his books, some handy bookmarklets for browser resizing and page validation, and some inventive humor.
NYPL Online Style Guide - This Style Guide for the Branch Libraries of the New York Public Library explains the markup and design requirements for all Branch Libraries web projects, along with various standards and best practices. Provides a clear and practical introduction to standards-based (CSS) page markup.
SitePoint - A bit too hard-sell for my tastes but they provide a lot of information and the forums are good.
Web Standards Project - Why you may want to upgrade your browser to take advantage of the power of CSS. (For the record, the DeskRat site is "any-browser" compatible.)
Website Tips - Shirley Kaiser's awesome resource for web developers includes articles, tutorials and organized links to resources elsewhere on the web.
Web Hosting Reseller Tools
CPanel/WHM Hacks - Hosting resellers using WHM and cPanel will recognize these backup and utility scripts as great time-savers. The backup scripts cycle through all the sub-accounts for one WHM account and back up all of them (files or databases). There are also handy interface routines for server status, Webalizer or AWstats, and other cPanel functions, so that you don't have to give your clients full access to cPanel.
Web Site Grabbers
These are handy when you need to collect a site from the Internet, either for archive purposes or when you have signed up a new web client and do not have access to their current server.
Download Web Pages or Web Sites - Scott Granneman offers an overview of "site grabber" software and where to find it, including a tutorial on wget.
GNU Wget - The powerful, workhorse site grabber for all flavors of Unix-like operating systems, including MacOS X, and for Windows. Open source from the Free Software Foundation. This official site provides downloads and documentation.
